When I make travel plans for the family one of my first agenda items is making plans for pet care. Our dogs gleefully go to Sheyenne River Kennels – they love it there. I do believe they look forward to our vacations so they can have their own little vacation at the kennels.
But care for our cats is another story. I leave them in their palace – the place they allow us to live with them in. This requires me to find someone reliable to check on them daily. Historically, this has been easier said than done.
I think most folks think cats are fairly self sufficient because they don’t need to be let out into the yard or walked, but that is a fallacy. Cats can be a needy lot. They need to be checked in on or they go about creating mayhem in the house. They need some human interaction when they feel like some attention. I worry about them getting sick when I am gone. I worry about the caretaker accidentally letting them out or locking one of them up in a room for a week without realizing it.
Thinking about all the things that could possibly go wrong with the cats makes me anxious about traveling. So each trip I have tried to find a better solution than the last. This year I finally found a reliable enduring solution that I can feel good about. That solution is Anything but Alligators Pet Sitting. The owner/operator of this service is a lovely, well-organized woman named Leslie.
If you are interested in a reliable pet sitter, visit Anything but Alligators’ Facebook page and send Leslie a message. Her rates are very reasonable and you will travel worry-free with her on the job. I am thrilled to have found her and I know it is just a matter of time until the cats look forward to our vacations. I can live with that. 😉
Day one thousand four hundred and seventy of the new forty – obla di obla da

Anything but Alligators. Sounds like something from Seinfeld. I can’t leave my babies just anywhere either. Took my first trip in 6 years last December because I actually found someone to walk and feed my doggie kids. I pay ‘em $100 a day too, to induce loyalty and hopefully a little extra TLC. My beasts won’t get 3 walks a day with someone who lets them eat chicken bones but won’t let them sniff more than 15 seconds, but they get to stay home and sleep in their replica scale-model Thinking Chair. And I don’t suffer a day of 10th Avenue Freeze Out and doggie dander because they were so stressed about the strange kennel and my sudden disappearance. You’re a good egg, Noonan.
