WHOA! BACK UP THE BUS!

Cheyenne informed me in passing the other day that she has taken to reading some of my blog entries.  She said, “I thought they would be stupid, but they’re not…they’re funny.”

WHOA!  BACK UP THE BUS! Was that an off-handed compliment from my 12 year old?  Did I have a break with reality? Was I abducted by aliens?  Has someone turned Cheyenne into a Stepford child?

A compliment – about my ever embarrassing blog no less??!!  Has hell frozen over?  Does she need a big loan?  Is she sick?  Is this a ploy to convince me to buy her a Wii?

What in the world prompted that?  A real life Cheyenne compliment…about my writing on my blog…it was surreal.

I was stunned…indeed, I was speechless. After a few minutes of trying to understand the dramatic shift that occured in my universe I managed to mutter a profound, “Oh.”

Nothing more was said and I still remain (days later) in utter amazement at the phenomenon – my pre-teen daughter saw value in something I do.  This may be the dawn of a new era…this may be an indication that my existence on the planet will be given some credence here forward by my tween…or maybe she really does just need a loan.  Oh, what the heck – I’m taking it, whatever the reason she had for speaking it.  It could be years until I hear another positive comment – I need to stop and enjoy the moment while it lasts. Heaven knows teenager-hood seems to last forever…give me a week or two of feeling like my kid sees me as worthy of air before I go back to being the hopeless misguided parent she typically sees me as. I know it ain’t much, but it’s all I’ve got. 😉

Day nine hundred and twenty of the new forty – obla di obla da
