All big adventures must end…

Today is the last day in Oprah and Gayle’s big adventure.  Today we will spend the day flying through United States airports so there will be no more comments or complaints about the quality of my driving.  My shoes will be checked and under the airline’s care for the duration of the trip.  The only folks left to visit with today will be in airports and planes.

Life as we know it will resume.  This version of Oprah and Gayle’s big adventure concludes much the same as the original version.  Some frayed nerves and some great memories, but no regrets.

Everyone should have such an adventure at least once in their lives – if for no other reason that to “experience” it.  That really is what our lives actually boil down to – the sum total of our experiences.

Helen Keller said, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all!”   I so concur.  Not that I will seek to go on another big adventure with Oprah again in the near future (I will wait for the memory to fade – like labor and childbirth).  But I will always try and embrace the “experience” of all adventures big and small for these are the makings of my life.  I am, after all, a Gayle. 😉

Day seven hundred and twenty-six of the new forty – obla di obla da

  1. These “big adventures” are the highlight experiences of our lives, but we certainly need lots of time between them to recover. Sounds like you had a fun time, and I enjoyed being a part of it through your postings!
