Turn the other cheek…

Fifi of LoveFifi fame sent me an email telling me about her padded panties sale.  Per Fifi, “Our 3 top selling Padded BUMS are on a 2 For The Price Of 1 special. If you love our famous Bitty Bum, Sporty Bum and Silicone Bum, now is the time to buy.”

Well, apparently Fifi has not taken the time to look at all the junk in my trunk.  If I wore padded panties I would be able to use my behind as a shelf.  I am doing just fine in that area Fifi – but thanks for offering.  Fifi’s email reminds me that very few of us have exactly the body we want – some want extra padding on the top and some on the bottom – some want more curves while others want less.

It seems to be the plight of women that they are rarely completely happy with the body they have.  I find it so interesting that men don’t seem likewise afflicted.  Why is that?  Do they sell padded underwear for men?  You likely have never heard a man say, “Damn, I wish my butt looked like one of those Brazilian booties!”

Women, on the other hand, are too often worrying more about the things they are not than the things they are.  I find this to be a damn shame.  I know it is ingrained in our society – blah, blah, blah – that it is a function of trying to meet what is believed to be the stereotypical image of beauty – blah, blah, blah – that it has gone on for hundreds of years – blah, blah, blah.  I have heard it a hundred thousand times at least.  Frankly though, I hate it.  Why do women have to feel like they are less if they don’t have what they perceive is the perfect body?

I understand that these padded panties may be just the thing for some women and padded bras may be just the thing for others, and I don’t mean to diminish the wearing of such items.  I am more concerned with the fact that women wear such items because they feel like they are not enough without them.  You are enough as you are ladies…padding does not make the woman, it merely makes the sweater or tight jeans look better.

So thanks Fifi, but no thanks…on this one I will have to turn the other cheek.  😉

  1. I know that many women struggle with self image issues, and I agree that it is sad. While it may seem that men are more comfortable with their appearances, I know of many who wear platform shoes or toupees to correct their “flaws.” Don’t even get me started on all the advertisements that want to help a man increase the size of his “manhood!” Just like LoveFifi exploits a woman’s insecurity, we have our share of leeches that prey on us. Oh yeah; we get caught up in ourselves too!
