On Thursday evening I had a rare opportunity to have a girls’ night in Bismarck with two pals – Jeanine and Mary.  Some things are just good for the soul…an evening laughing and carousing with girlfriends is one such thing.  To be able to share stories and insight and advice ~ all mixed up in laughter that is replete with rambunctious outbursts and behavior that is not always lady-like ~ that is a gift that is unparalleled.

While I was in Bismarck Jeanine gave  me a book called Love Life.  It is filled with quotations on life and love and it is fabulous!  One of my favorite quotes in the book (ascribed to an unknown author) is:

"Always be ready to have the time of your life." 

It seems a simple enough statement, but putting it into practice requires a level of conscience direction that is beyond most folks norm.  Are you always ready to have the time of your life?  Are you ready when you wake up in the morning, go to the grocery store, begin a work week, etc.  I think most folks are ready sometimes, but rarely are they ready to give credence to the notion that the time of their life can happen when they least expect it – in the middle of what one might consider a normal daily activity.

I want to embody this notion…to be always open to the possibilities in the moment.  I want to live as if everything is a miracle (to borrow the words of Einstein) and to be open to having the time of my life when each and every opportunity presents itself.  Is that selfish or hedonistic…I think not.  I believe it is an appreciation of the fact that we only live once…don’t put off your happiness…grab it with both hands and have the time of your life…who knows that could be today.  🙂
