WebMD actually sent me an email entitled, "Tips for Going Bare Down There."  OMG!  I am thinking that WebMD is getting a little too comfortable in their coversations with me.  Well, given the bravado WebMD evidenced sending me the email I felt compelled to at least review their tips.

The actual article is entitled Before You Pierce, Wax, or Shave.  I will tell all of you who may be shocked already that now would be the time to stop reading (and definitely do not click on the article).

God bless the internet.  The days of learning about all these things from your friends are over.  The age of unlimited information at your fingertips is here and now we can all know the ups and downs (or is that the ins and outs?) of piercing, waxing and shaving our most sensitive selves.  I must say though – my girlfriends served me well.  I already knew most of the waxing and shaving dos and don’ts…the piercing info…well, that stuff was new info for me. 

I was gratified to know that by not piercing any of the things mentioned in the article I had not necessarily missed out on anything.  Indeed, they say if you do pierce these parts you have to refrain from sex while it all heals (in addition to wearing looser pants with less cling and rub effect).  Hmmmm…I need to reflect on the logic of piercing.  I understand the logic behind the waxing and shaving, but the logic of piercing may be escaping me. 

The article says there is no evidence that it enhances pleasure.  Indeed, I would guess that one takes the risk of desensitizing certain areas (which I do not think is a good thing).  Plus, no matter how cute the post is you put in your new piercing I would think (hope) that there are a decidely limited number of folks who are going to see it.  Plus, there would be no point in trying to coordinate your post with any outfit as I think the whole idea of the post is to be sans clothes (maybe you could coordinate it with your bracelet or a headband?).  Finally, after you get it you have to take a break from sex for awhile…which must make the unveiling of the piercing – be it privately or as a grand opening event – quite an interesting episode.

Well, let me tell you that I am now wide awake this Sunday morning just thinking about all the ins and outs of piercing your private parts.  It adds whole new meaning to the term "posting" to me – oh my. 

I can’t wait to see what tips WebMD feels a need to share with me next…I dare not even hazard a guess. 🙂
