What do blintzes and karaoke have in common?

I love Wednesdays at EMI for two reasons – blintzes and karaoke. They are
both guilty pleasures and both well-worth the investment.

It am a bit ashamed to admit that I can actually tell you what is on the dining hall’s breakfast rotation.  It isn’t really a function of how long I have been coming to EMI – it is more a function of loving blintzes.  Once I keyed in on the fact that they were served on Wednesdays I started to look for them.  There has been many a day that I have gotten out and about too late for breakfast (yesterday was one), but there has never been a Wednesday that I have missed breakfast at EMI.  I take blintz day seriously and my fanny is notched up to high gear to ensure that I get to the dining hall with plenty of time to eat a plate full of blintzes and bacon – yes, I know it is soooo wrong, but it feels soooo right. I am reminded of the line from the song, "…if loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right."  I’ll do penance later for my sins.

So, today is blintz day – tre yum.

This evening is karaoke at the pub on campus.  Yet another reason I love Wednesday’s on the EMI campus.  Not that I myself sing.  Oh no, I am merely a karaoke supporter (which brings to mind the time I told someone I didn’t participate in athletics but was an athletic supporter – that didn’t turn out quite right).

I cheer folks on at karaoke and I dance when the opportunity arises (or at least I do what I term as dancing).  This week there are a lot of firefighters on campus (did I mention that the EMI campus shares its facilities with the National Fire Academy…yep, it’s true…I am surrounded by firefighters- sigh).  The firefighters are a fairly wild and crazy group (much more so than us subdued EM folks).  They make for quite a party.  I am up for a party.  It has been four months since I was last at EMI and I am ready to be one of the loud and obnoxious party crew this evening.  I will cheer and laugh and dance and generally have a good time.  And, during all this I will burn untold calories…I think I better have an extra blintz at breakfast to ensure I have the fuel to get through the night.

Oh yes, it is Wednesday…to quote the lyrics from another song, "I’ve got a feeling that tonight’s gonna’ be a good night."  Happy Wednesday all! 🙂

  1. ouch, thats kind of a low blow on em chick. unless its true. i dont personally know her so i cant comment. yes she appears to like to party and be a bit rowdy. kind of a trademark of our generation. but that doesnt make her promiscius, unless she is, then i need to meet her lol just kidding. i prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt. and accept them with their flaws, i personally dont have any flaws so its good for me to share some with others that do lol. i guess when i used to go to seminars out of town and even some out of the country. i was more into being a people watcher rather than a participant. not too mention her job and others at that seminar are extreme high pressure. sometimes you do things to wind down that you ordinarily wouldnt do. i am not one to judge others as i have not lived the kind of life i had intended and hoped to. we all have our skeletons, some of them most people would not be able to deal with as justified by suicide rates among my group. just most of my skeletons are not as short as carol lol sorry hun cheap shot i know. have fun, be safe and learn stuff to save our asses in case of an emergency.

  3. PW~ try as I may I cannot get one in my luggage for you – sorry. 😦

Tam~ the broken head sprinkler – I tried it, but cannot do it like the master. 😉

EMI friend~ah, your comment is spoken like a true EMI veteran…no drunk invites but lots of dancing, laughter, etc. Thanks for attributing such scandal to me – my you make me out to be so much more interesting than I am. 😉

DNA~thanks for the support – short skeletons and all. I own all my party escapades, but this marriage thing really cuts out much of the carousing that I used to do in my wilder and crazier days…I surmise that is a good thing. 😉
