Left up to individual interpretation…

At a house on the corner of 11th Avenue and Sheyenne Street in West Fargo there is a large snowman whose face looks upward and whose branch arms extend toward the sky in the front yard.   The snowman is on the daily route to Cheyenne’s school.  We have been seeing him there for a number of days now and we have been enjoying him.

I wonder what the creator of this snowman intended to convey.  This snowman is clearly intended to be symbolic of something – he must be trying to convey a message of sorts.  But what message exactly?  It looks like the snowman could be doing any number of things.

I think the snowman could be praising God for his creation.  He does look reverent and praiseful.

I think the snowman could be looking at the sky in bewilderment and thinking how the heck did I get from there to here?

I think the snowman could be representing the joy that is evident in a happy winter day spent playing in the clear, crisp air.

I think the snowman could be just waiting hopefully for more of his flaky friends to arrive.

Cheyenne thinks he is just a cute snowman and that I have too much time on my hands if I can read so much into the fact that he is looking and reaching upward.

Hmmmm…I guess for now the snowman’s message will be left up to individual interpretation.  So I’ll keep coming up with new interpretations and Cheyenne will keep smiling as we pass him in our travels and thanks to the folks on the corner we will both be a bit more joyful. 😉
