Au revoir Alpengruss

Today we head back through Ottawa to Syracuse and we say a final farewell to the Alpengruss.  Actually it is more an au revoir.  We may someday revisit the Alpengruss, but I surmise it will not be the same.  You see, Ruth and Wolfgang are selling the Alpengruss after running it for 24 years.  In a matter of months the Alpengruss will have new owners that run things in their way.  But change is good…different is okay.

Perhaps the new owners will expand the television channel offerings, enhance the wi fi network, or put coffeemakers in the rooms.  These are things that may matter more to city folk who visit and who don’t want to be disconnected from their everyday experiences.  Had you asked me at the outset if the above was my preference I would have likely said yes; yet, the experience at the Alpengruss has taught me that the experience I have had is more valuable than the experience I might have sought out myself.

I like the way the universe brings us to such lessons and I like the flexibility and adaptability I discovered in myself as a result of this adventure.  I also like that I did it all with eight pairs of shoes and Oprah.  Well, actually nine pairs of shoes as I purchased a new pair while here. 😉

Au revoir Alpengruss.

Day seven hundred and twenty-five of the new forty – obla di obla da
