Have you seen the new singing competition The Voice? There was a great deal of buzz before the show premiered about The Voice’s potential to compete with American Idol.  Well shucks, now that I have seen The Voice I can now share my thoughts on this….yeah,  I think American Idol is going to need to step off.

Why you ask?  Well, take your pick:

The panel of judges are amazing and interesting talents in their own right; OR,

The chemistry and banter between the judges would be a top-rated show in-and-of-itself; OR,

There is no age limit or pretty factor for contestants; OR,

The contestants have a wide range of styles and unique qualities to their voices – and damn, they can sing; OR,

Carson Daly is the host and he actually seems to like and connect with the contestants and their families (sorry Ryan Seacrest you cannot compete); OR,

It’s fresh and the format has you not only rooting for the contestants, but also rooting for your favorite judge; OR,

All of the above.

I do believe The Voice is going to generate a very loyal and robust fan following and I do believe American Idol producers should be afraid – very afraid. 😉
