My favorite lingerie entrepreneur Fifi of LoveFifi.com sent me an email. The email subject line read, “Vintage Vixen Corset + Panty! Only $19.99!”
This email irritated me. What exactly are you trying to say to me Fifi? Vintage vixen? I am not so sure I appreciate you calling me that. Isn’t “vintage” code for old? Are you saying I am an old vixen? I do believe I take offense to that…I am not “vintage”. I do not like that term at all. When you call me “vintage” I half expect some guy from the Antiques Roadshow to come look me up and down, turn me around and make a statement about how well I have held up (or not) over the years.
Really Fifi, I expect a little more sensitivity from you – you aren’t a spring chicken yourself you know. If you feel compelled to reference age in an offhanded way say “seasoned” or “experienced” but never – NEVER – call me “vintage” again.
Uh…yeah…the vixen part is just fine. 😉

I believe that vintage and antique are from around the same time frame, and there is a place that states “Antique Tables Made Daily” so if that email goes by that standard, they are calling you a spring chicken. 🙂

Vintage means classic. The right combination of curves and style that will never go out of date but which now is difficult to find.

Besides the age reference, I think of the term “vintage” being linked to wines. Maybe Fifi is reaching out to vixens that have overindulged, also known as “drunken foxes” by frat boys everywhere? Either way, old or inebriated, I can understand why a woman may feel offended: Way to set Fifi straight!

To be quite honest I know for a fact that’s not what they’re implying. Some guys are just into the burlesque/vintage lingerie wear.. some womens style just compliments that look very well. I google searched Vintage Vixen Corset, and found the fifi set. Man, if a woman was wearing that, I don’t care what the age difference… i’d be more than ok with it.
