The air was momentarily sucked out of my world today when I went to turn on my iPod this morning and nothing happened. The screen was black and no amount of wheel-turning, button-pushing, shaking or swearing caused it to produce even one song from my beloved music collection.
I have to admit, a sense of panic set in when I thought I was going to move through my morning without my iPod. I am not sure when I became so iPod-dependent, but it was immediately clear this morning that my days of believing that I could live without an iPod were over.
Fortunately, a Google search led me to the Apple site where information on how to reset iPods was readily available. I must say, when I successfully reset my iPod a feeling of great accomplishment and enormous relief washed over me…I did it – thank goodness.
While the morning rolled on without further incident, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had become too dependent on electronics. Seeing as I have only had my iPod since Christmas I would say that I have fairly quickly established an addiction to it. Scary stuff. I wonder if there are group therapy sessions out there for folks like me. I can hear it now, “Hi, I’m Carol and I am iAddicted.” They say recognizing you have a problem is the first step… I am on my way.
Day three hundred and three of the new forty – obla di obla da
