A few weeks back someone told me I was "saucy". From the way it was delivered, I believe it was intended as a compliment. I was not 100% sure exactly what "saucy" meant so I looked it up on the internet. Here are some of the definitions I found:
- Impertinent: characterized by a lightly pert and exuberant quality;
- Fresh: improperly forward or bold;
- Impertinently bold and impudent;
- Amusingly forward and flippant; and,
- Irrepressible.
Hmmmm.
Pert? That sounds so Stepford wife like…and there can be little debate about my qualifications as a Stepford wife…nothing could be further from the truth.
Exuberant…well, maybe on occasion…sometimes more appropriately termed spastic.
Improperly forward or bold…yeah, I may resemble that characterization on my braver days.
And as if being improperly forward and bold was not shocking enough, well try impertinently bold and impudent – yikes…sounds a tad misguided and mean-spirited.
Amusingly forward and flippant, well I have already owned the forward part, but flippant…perhaps…but only to obnoxious and egotistical jerks when they are being mean to other folks.
Irrepressible…that one I kinda’ like…not so sure it’s true though.
Really not so sure I am "saucy" at all. I guess I should have asked the person who said I was "saucy" how he defined it. After all, the real definition is in the mind of the definer. Regardless of his definition I do believe I will work on being irrepressible and earning the "saucy" label. π

Yep, “irrepressible” is the one to choose. You rock, girl!

Was it Brad? If so, it was a compliment.

Miss Amy ~ it wasn’t Brad…it was one of the fire guys at karaoke. However, if Brad would say that about me, ask him what it means when he says it! π
