Toilet paper roll placement – that’s on Dan.

Let’s talk about toilet paper…more specifically about the appropriate way to place toilet paper on the roll.

I never even considered the import of this issue until I was involved in a conversation with Dusty’s dad, Dan (Dusty is my daughter Sarah’s long-time boyfriend).  Dan has definitive views on this subject and it was his detailed rationale for the over the top approach that got me to really thinking about the matter.  Since then, there has been a national ad campaign that addresses folks preferences – over or under – almost akin to asking about belly buttons – innie or outie.  The truth be told, I never really thought or cared about it one way or another until Dan provided his position on the matter.

Here’s the thing though…the thing that I thought I should share with you in regard to Dan’s impassioned argument for going over the top…every time I look at a toilet paper roll now…EVERY TIME…I think of Dan.  There is a powerful lesson in this.  Know that a seemingly innocent dialogue about toilet paper placement preference could leave an enduring imprint; hence, choose your dialogues carefully.   Personally, I shudder at the types of items my dialogues have left imprints on…but one thing that is not on me is the placement of the toilet paper roll…that is all on Dan. 😉

  1. It’s my understanding that over-the-top is in compliance with handicap accessibility. I’ve never verified the fact, but there it is as told to me by a handicapable person.
