Heavenly Father…I have sinned.

Heavenly Father…I have sinned.  When my children were younger I willingly, indeed – I eagerly, wore stirrup leggings with big tops and high heels.  I looked something like this (well…minus the great body and model looks of course – which likely makes the sin even bigger).

By your grace, divine forgiveness and much prayer I came to realize the error of my ways; but there are others out there who will today fall into the same fashion sin without some divine intervention.  There are those who will believe the sinful propaganda that the fashion industry spews and wear these with a sense of pride and fashion forwardness.  I know this to be true as I have walked that crooked path myself.

Now I realize there are "sins" and then there are "SINS", and this is somewhere in the fashion "sins" spectrum between regular leggings and crop tops (both of which have hit my personal "sin" spectrum at one point in time before I was "saved").  I also realize that part and parcel of the challenge is the way these sins are presented.  They are paraded out on beautiful models in a pose that would not be the way most folks would go through their day in them.  It is this presentation that leads some folks astray.

I ask that you give these women strength Lord…strength to see past the glossy page, beautiful model and deceiving pose to the reality of "sin" and the reality of stirrup leggings.  I know that living here on earth and exercising free will is part of the challenge of being human, but some things really should be removed from the mix – case in point – stirrup leggings (I know that is presumptious for me to assert to a divine being, but as a reformed sinner I feel an obligation).

So whatever you can do to avert others from the path of sin that I have traveled would be very much appreciated.  I am willing to say as many Hail Mary and Our Father prayers as are necessary not only in homage to my penance but also as premptory prayer for those who are about to sin…forgive them Father for they know not what they do.

  1. Amen sister! I also realized that colored jeans are back in the mix….horrifying! I tried to divert my lovely daughter from purchasing a pair, but alas, she has fallen victim to the fashion…..say a few Hail Marys for me please!

  2. Hey, I wore stirrup pants and loved them! They were stretchy and comfortable! I didn’t wear the high heels — I’m way too smart for that. And the big tops disguised a multitude of bumps and bulges.

  3. Ha! I also wore them and loved them, and my girls threaten to disown me every time I speak of them in a fond memorial!
