Just one small observation to share at this late hour. I learned this information today from Mary who as my roomie is now able to testify to the fact that I regularly talk to myself. I was trying to contain my conversations with myself while Mary and I were sharing a room, but it appears that I have acquired the capability to ignore myself when I talk.
So, here is the observation made by Mary. Mary got out of bed a tad later than me, but was awake enough to hear me babbling to myself. Apparently, over the course of the hour or so when I was up getting ready to go to breakfast with my cousin Kelly, Aunt Gen, and Kelly’s adorable baby Elijah, I sighed and said "seriously" a number of times. Now, to hear Mary tell it I used it as an all purpose term that conveyed consternation, surprise, humor, etc. That sounds about right as I do see "seriously" as the equivalent of Canada’s "eh". And let’s face it, when one word can be so versatile who needs to use anything else.
No, I was not surprised when she confirmed that I really do talk to myself, but was a bit surprised that I was adept at ignoring my own conversations with myself (I didn’t even recall saying that to myself or the universe). That cannot be a good sign…seriously.
